Hampshire Museums and Galleries Trust was formed in 1991 to broaden support for museums within Hampshire. Since then the Trust has made a valuable contribution to new local displays at Andover Museums and for the development of Milestones, Hampshire’s Living History Museum.

It has supported the development of Winchester and Gosport Discovery Centres and made the refurbishment of the Willis Museum in Basingstoke possible. In 2006 the Trust launched the successful youth-led EDGE Project in Basingstoke, obtaining further funding to expand the project to Winchester and Gosport. Further funding and support is being sought to expand this project throughout Hampshire.
