What is the EDGE Project?
The EDGE Project is a Hampshire Museums and Galleries Trust initiative which seeks to actively engage young people aged 14 – 24 with Hampshire museums, galleries, libraries and discovery centres.
How does it work?
The main approach to this is through Young People’s Advisory Panels. The panels meet on a regular basis to discuss current provision for young people, share ideas and plan new exhibitions, events and activities for their peers. They are also on hand to work in consultation with staff about what young people wish to see in the various venues around the county.
Why?
Museums, libraries, discovery centres & galleries are all spaces which young people do not readily access or engage with. Through working with the Young People’s Advisory Panels, these spaces can develop new ideas and innovation to help engage more young people.
Why get involved?
The EDGE Project enables young people to have their say and run projects and events relating to or within these spaces. It is an opportunity to be creative, share ideas, learn new skills and meet new people.
The Panels are involved in every aspect of the project from sponsorship and marketing to research, delivery of events and evaluation. Projects can involve photography, music, theatre and performance, multimedia, filming, dance, DJing, graffiti and much more. The sky is the limit!
